Building a Habit of Prayer

I mentioned in my first post that I struggle tremendously when it comes to prayer.

I have always had this problem.

So I purchased "Building a Habit of Prayer" from the Conciliar Press, and it's helping me to do this the right way.

As I read through the booklet, I found something that is perfect for someone like me - make a "Rule of Prayer". This means, put prayer practices into my daily schedule (I'm a full-time mom; I thrive on daily schedules), and To Do Lists (another big one for me). I've always had trouble doing this, as it seemed pointless to pray unless I felt that sudden pang to do it. But unfortunately, I've come to learn, that when that pang shows up, I have no strength in me to pray. Something is blocking me from doing it. I don't know what to do or where to begin.

Oh, and let's not forget that it's incredibly important to pray every day. To not pray every day is like being the friend who only calls when she's in trouble and needs help, but never just to chat or say "hello" or "thank you" or "I was thinking of you today".

It's a long list of things to consider while making a Rule of Prayer, but I'm going to tackle it a little bit at a time.

Pray for me.

I struggle with this too at night mostly. It seems like I have to drag myself to read Compline. I'll have to check this book out! Thanks for commenting on my blog!
